CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The 2012-13 regular season is over and Shane Larkin's accolades continue to roll in.

The sophomore guard was named a third team All-American by The Sporting News. Larkin is one of two players from the ACC selected for the teams, as Duke's Seth Curry was named to the second team.

"The emergence of Shane Larkin as an elite point guard is the biggest reason the Hurricanes arrived on the national stage this season," The Sporting News said. "With Larkin taking over as the primary ball handler, everything fell into place for Miami coach Jim Larranaga, starting with Durand Scott sliding over to more of a shooting guard role, where he was able to focus on his strengths-attacking the basket on the drive and knocking down spot-up jumpers. Without Larkin, the Hurricanes would have been a top-25 team. With him averaging 13.7 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, they earned the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament and are a very legitimate Final Four threat."

Larkin led the Canes in scoring (13.7 ppg), assists (131), steals (59) and 3-point percentage (.403). He recorded a steal in 26 games this season, including 20 straight games from Nov. 13 through Feb. 5. The Orlando, Fla., native also made at least one 3-pointer in 26 of his 30 games played this season.

The lightning quick guard played a pivotal role Miami's success this season, starting 29 of Miami's 30 games. Larkin stepped up against the best competition, scoring 18 points in each of Miami's home wins over perennial powers Duke and North Carolina. The sophomore scored in double figures in 24 of his 30 games and scored 20 or more points five times.
