Joy Ekema-Agbaw enters her second season as the Hurricanes Operations Coordinator.
Over the past year, Ekema-Agbaw focused her abilities on assisting the coaching staff with all aspects of team travel as well as helping the recruiting coordinator reach out to future Canes.
Ekema-Agbaw came to Miami following two years spent as an assistant track & field coach at Bloomsburg High School. At BHS as the sprints/jumps coach, Ekema-Agbaw guided her athletes to consecutive 4x100m relay appearances at the PIAA state meet, where they placed ninth overall in 2010. The team moved up to fourth in 2011, breaking a record formally held by their coach in the process.
Prior to her time at Bloomsburg, Ekema-Agbaw was an academic scholar and student-athlete for the Violets of NYU. As a member of the track & field team, she spent four years as a sprinter, specializing in the 200m and 400m races and receiving University Athletic Association league honors as well as taking on the role of captain for the last two years of her career.
Currently, she is working on her Masters of Science in Education in Sport Administration, with her expected graduation in December of 2012.
