GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Sean Pezzulo of the University of Miami cross country team has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. In the first meet of the season, he finished fourth overall in the 8K race (26:58.23) to help lead UM to fourth place at the USF Invitational.
Prior to Pezzulo, Connor Adams was the last Hurricane to win this honor on Oct. 25, 2010.
"It is great accomplishment to have Sean as Performer of the Week," assistant cross country coach Damon Griffiths said. "He has worked very hard this summer and I look forward to more great things from him."
A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Pezzulo's career-best time came last season at the ACC Championships (26:28.7).
The UM cross country teams will next run at the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida on Saturday, Sept. 15. A total of 22 teams are set to compete in the meet.
