BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The University of Miami cross country teams competed in the Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University. Juniors Sean Pezzulo and Lindsi Arrington led the way for the Canes continuing their impressive seasons. There was fierce competition, as over 100 schools competed in the meet in a series of races.
"We had several personal best marks on both teams today," assistant cross country coach Damon Griffith said. "We still have to continue to show progress to reach our goals for the end of the season."
Pezzulo led the way for Canes finishing the race with an overall time of 25:07 in the 8k. Following Pezzulo were strong finishes by senior Greg Kaczka (26:16), sophomore Jacee Jarnigan (26:20), junior Luke Fontaine (26:48), freshman Bert Irigoyen (26:57), freshman Kevin Marsh (27:06) and sophomore Anthony Ricketts (27:36).
"Sean ran a very strong race," Griffith said. "He has continued to improve each week."
Continuing her strong season, Arrington paced the women in the 5k with a time of 21:49. Junior Alaine Tate had a strong finish for the Hurricanes as well, finishing the race in 23:56. Following Arrington and Tate were junior Brooke Dovell (24:23), junior Allison Ludwick (25:02), sophomore Julia Koch (25:34), freshman Kelly Williamson (25:40) and freshman Ally Fincal (26:52).
"Lindsi had another solid performance today," Griffiths added.
The Hurricanes men's team finished 34th overall and the women's 38th.
