The Game
Two of the most storied programs in college baseball renew their historic rivalry this weekend, as homestanding Miami welcomes No. 8 Florida State for a three-game series at The Light. First pitch for Friday’s series opener is set for 7:30 p.m.

Projected Starters:
Miami SO. LHP Chris Diaz (2-3, 4.19 ERA) vs. FSU RHP Luke Weaver (3-0, 1.09 ERA)
Miami JR. LHP Bryan Radziewski (3-1, 0.98 ERA) vs. FSU LHP Brandon Leibrandt (4-2, 4.89 ERA)
Miami SO. LHP Andrew Suarez (2-1, 2.92 ERA) vs. FSU RHP Scott Sitz (5-0, 0.69 ERA)

 

The Series 
The Seminoles hold a 143-121-4 all-time advantage over the Hurricanes, including a weekend sweep at Dick Howser Stadium in 2012. Miami has lost three straight against the Seminoles and seven of the last 10.

The Broadcasts
WQAM 560 will carry all three games for the big series, with Joe Zagacki and Mike Levine on the call. WVUM 90.5 will carry all three games against the Seminoles. CSS/ESPN3 will broadcast Friday and Saturday's games, while ESPNU will cover the series finale.

The Coach
Jim Morris is in his 35th season as a head coach and 20th with the Miami Hurricanes. He has a 1,505-641-4 (.701) career record, including a 870-333-3 mark at Miami, where he has guided the team to two National Championships (1999, 2001).


Storylines 

• Two of the most storied programs in college baseball renew their historic rivalry this weekend, as homestanding Miami welcomes No. 8 Florida State for a three-game series at The Light. First pitch for Friday’s series opener is set for 7:30 p.m.

• Miami will be looking to win their second consecutive home ACC series after taking two of three against No. 22 Virginia Tech from March 22-24. The Canes boast a 16-6 record (.728 winning percentage) through their first 22 home contests of 2013.

• While Miami has just a 5-7 ACC record, the team’s southpaw rotation of Chris Diaz, Bryan Radziewski and Andrew Suarez each rank in the top 20 in earned run average in conference play, highlighted by Radziewski at No. 2 (1.20 ERA).

• Miami’s most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) rank was No. 19 by both Boyd’s World and WarrenNolan.com. In addition, Warren Nolan ranks the Hurricanes’ schedule as the second-toughest in the country.

• Among last season’s top performers against FSU: Dale Carey (six hits, .500 AVG) and Michael Broad (grand slam, four RBI’s).

• Jim Morris and Mike Martin rank among the winningest coaches in college baseball history. The counterparts have combined for over 3,000 wins in 66 combined years as Division I head coaches, and each rank among the top five in active total wins.
