Jim Krumpos is in his second season at the University of Miami as the strength and conditioning coach for the Hurricanes' men's basketball and women's soccer programs.

"I'm very pleased and excited to have Jim Krumpos on our staff," said UM head men's basketball coach Jim Larranaga when Krumpos was hired in 2011. "He is an outstanding strength and conditioning coach. He is also a competitive power weightlifter, and I know he will relate well to our players because they will see in him what can be done if you devote enough time and energy to becoming strong and in great shape."

Krumpos previously served as the associate director of performance enhancement for the University of Arizona since February of 2008. He was the head strength and conditioning coach for the men's basketball, baseball, men's and women's golf, women's volleyball and women's soccer teams, designing and implementing year-round workouts, focusing on strength, speed, agility, explosiveness, balance and conditioning. He produced sport-specific programs that included technique instruction, testing and evaluating, in addition to reconditioning injured student-athletes in conjunction with the sports medicine staff.

Krumpos initially worked with the Wildcats as an intern and assistant strength coach from 2000-03. He was responsible for the nationally-ranked baseball program, as well as the cross country teams. Additionally, he assisted with the strength and conditioning efforts with Arizona's football, women's basketball, women's soccer and swimming and diving programs.

Prior to returning to Arizona, Krumpos was the director of the strength and conditioning program at Cal State Fullerton in 2007-08 where he designed and implemented the year-round strength and conditioning programs for all 13 intercollegiate sports.

Krumpos also spent four years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at UNC Charlotte from 2003-07, working with the women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and men's and women's tennis teams.

Over his career, he has also worked with athletes in all levels of professional sports - including the NBA, NFL, MLB, arena football and minor league baseball, in addition to Olympic medalists.

A 2003 graduate of Arizona, Krumpos has a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in physiology, physical education and psychology. He added a master's degree in liberal studies from Charlotte in 2006. His current certifications include: P.I.C.P. strength and conditioning specialist level two, certified strength and conditioning specialist, USAW club coach, N.A.S.M performance enhancement specialist, N.A.S.M corrective exercise specialist and N.A.S.E specialist in speed and explosion.

Krumpos and his wife, Kristin, have a two-year old son, Carson, and a newborn daughter, Abigail.
