Wes Brown is in his eighth year at the University of Miami, providing the daily medical care for men's basketball as well as the cheerleaders and Sunsations. After five years as an assistant, Brown was promoted to associate athletic trainer in 2012.
Prior to his arrival at UM, Brown spent five years at UNC Wilmington where he served as the Director of Sports Medicine for three years. Brown is a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist, certified Corrective Exercise specialist, certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner, and a level 2 Fascial Stretch Therapist. He also teaches classes as an instructor for the Kinesiology department. He has served as an approved clinical instructor for Miami’s CAATE accredited Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program since arriving in 2007. He is very interested in the topics of injury prevention, fascial stretching, functional evaluation, and functional testing.
A native of Jacksonville, N.C., Brown earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from UNC Wilmington in 2000, before earning his master's degree in athletic training from Old Dominion University in 2002. He is married to the former Alana Eichman.
