Naoki Negishi is in his third year serving as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Miami, working primarily with the men's and women's track & field and cross country programs.

Negishi has been in the United State for 11 years, arriving from his hometown of Kiryu in the Gunma Prefecture of Japan. Prior to his arrival at UM, Negishi served as an athletic training intern at the University of California in Berkeley. He worked closely with the football program, in addition to the men's and women's gymnastics teams during the 2008-09 season.

Before that, he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the prep football team at Fork Union Military Academy while in the graduate school at the University of Virginia. Negishi is a 2007 graduate of the University of Alabama, earning a bachelor's degree in athletic training. He added a master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in athletic training from Virginia in 2008.
