LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Miami volleyball team dropped its final non-conference regular season match of the year on Saturday at No. 12 Louisville, 3-1. Freshman Kelsie Groot paced the Canes with 15 kills, while junior Taylor Hollins recorded her ninth double-double in 10 matches (13 kills, 18 digs).
For their efforts over the weekend, sophomores Emani Sims (45 kills, 15 total blocks) and Alexis Mourning (40 kills, 18 total blocks) were named all-tournament. UM previously defeated UNLV and Middle Tennessee in the Louisville Tournament.
In front of 2,483 the KFC Yum! Center, the Canes (9-2) fell to the Cardinals (11-1) by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17. It was the second true road match of the season.
Groot collected a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs on the night to continue her consistent play since entering the starting lineup. Senior setter Nrithya Sundararaman orchestrated the offense once again with 48 assists.
Lola Arslanbekova put down a match-high 21 kills for the hosts.
Miami will return to Atlantic Coast Conference play full-time starting next weekend with matches at Virginia and Virginia Tech.
