Preceding his employment as the director of athletic training services at Radford, Jager served as the head athletic trainer and an adjunct professor and collegiate advisor at Ferrum College from August 2005 to May 2008. At Ferrum, he was responsible for directing and administering health care for all student-athletes under the guidance of team physicians while supervising three staff certified athletic trainers and two athletic training interns, providing primary coverage and care for the football, basketball and baseball teams and advising students on weekly assessment meetings, course scheduling and supervising course mentors.

Jager graduated from Grand Valley State University in April 2003 with a bachelor’s in movement science with an emphasis in athletic training. In August 2005, he graduated from Virginia Tech University with a master’s in education, health, and physical education.
