FB Trio Honored as ACC Players of the Week
Morris (Offensive Back) and Paul (Linebacker) picked up their career-first ACC weekly honor, while Johnson (Rookie) received ACC Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
Through five weeks, Miami has tallied seven ACC Player of the Week honors - freshman RB Duke Johnson (two), Eddie Johnson (two), Morris (one), Paul (one) and sophomore WR Phillip Dorsett (one).
Morris threw for a Miami- and ACC-record 566 yards to lead the Hurricanes to a 44-37 win over NC State. The junior signal-caller completed 26 of 49 passes for a 21.8 yards-per-completion average, while tossing a school-record-tying 5 TD passes. His fifth touchdown pass was the eventual game-winner, a 62-yard pass to Dorsett with 19 seconds remaining - his second TD throw of more than 60 yards on the day. Morris, who has thrown for 1,002 yards in his last two games, registered 271 passing yards in the first quarter, becoming the fourth FBS player to throw for that many in a quarter since 2004.
Paul, making his career-first start at middle linebacker, tallied a forced fumble and a career- and team-high 11 tackles, including eight solo stops against NC State. Paul's 11 tackles matched his total in his first 11 career games.
Johnson recorded seven tackles (six solo stops), one sack, one TFL, two forced fumbles and one pass break-up in Miami's win over NC State. The reigning ACC Linebacker of the Week recorded one of Miami’s two sacks on the day.
