GREENSBORO, N.C. - University of Miami freshmen Gabe Terry and Duke Johnson were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Specialist and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.

Terry picked up his career-first ACC weekly honor, while Johnson was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Through nine weeks, Miami has tallied nine ACC Player of the Week honors - Johnson (three), redshirt freshman LB Eddie Johnson (two), junior QB Stephen Morris (one), sophomore LB Gionni Paul (one), sophomore WR Phillip Dorsett (one) and Terry (one). Six of Miami's nine ACC weekly honors have been freshmen.

Terry, a 6-foot-3 freshman LB from Wellington, Fla., blocked a Virginia Tech punt that led to the Miami Hurricanes' first score of the night during their 30-12 win Nov. 1 over the Hokies. On the Virginia Tech 41-yard line, Terry blocked the punt and it was recovered by Rayshawn Jenkins at the Virginia Tech 16 to set up the UM score two plays later. It was Miami's first blocked punt since 2008 against UCF and first in ACC play since 2004, also against Virginia Tech.

Johnson notched his second 100-yard rushing game of the season, collecting 100 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries in Miami's win. Sixty-five of his 100 yards came in the first half on one rush, a new career long. Johnson later added a fourth-quarter touchdown, his sixth rushing score of the season and first since Sept. 29 vs. NC State. He finished the night with 217 all-purpose yards, his fourth 200-yard all-purpose game of the season. Johnson had 118 returning yards on two returns, including an 81-yard scamper. He now has 13 plays of 25-plus yards, including seven for 50 or more yards.

The ACC Coastal Division-leading Miami Hurricanes (5-4, 4-2 ACC) travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face the Virginia Cavaliers (3-6, 1-4 ACC). Saturday's game will kick at noon ET on ABC.
