LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Miami volleyball team re-entered the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 this week at No. 24, the organization announced Monday. The Canes have now appeared in the national poll four times this season.
Miami (23-4, 15-2), who has won 13 of the last 14, is tied atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with Florida State with three regular season matches remaining. It is the best ACC start in program history.
Most recently, the Canes took down both Wake Forest and Duke last weekend to improve to 8-4 on the road. Against the Blue Devils, Miami overcame two match points in the fifth set to pull out the win.
UM first entered the polls this year at No. 24 on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, before moving up to No. 23 on Oct. 29. This is the 14th time in school history that the Canes have been ranked going back to 2002, holding an all-time 16-5 record in matches when playing as a ranked team.
The Hurricanes join No. 11 Florida State and No. 25 North Carolina as ranked ACC teams.
The Canes, also No. 21 in the NCAA RPI, will return home this weekend to face Boston College and Maryland at the Knight Sports Complex. The Hurricanes defeated both opponents on the road earlier this season.Single-game tickets to home volleyball matches are available for as low as $3. Call 1-800-GO-CANES to order your tickets today.
