Trio Picks Up Freshman All-America Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami's freshman trio of Duke Johnson, Deon Bush and Eddie Johnson have each picked up Freshman All-America honors.

Duke Johnson and Bush were both named second-team Freshman All-America by CollegeFootballNews.com, while Duke and Eddie Johnson were named to the CBSSports.com All-Freshman Team.

Duke Johnson, a second-team Walter Camp All-America, was the ACC Rookie of the Year after posting one of the greatest freshman seasons in Miami history. The Miami, Fla., native amassed 2,060 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for a UM freshman-record 947 yards. The freshman triple-threat back was named the ACC Rookie of the Week a league-best five times. He was also named third-team All-America as an all-purpose runner by CBSSports.com.

Bush played in 10 games, while making six starts at safety. He tallied 34 total tackles, including 28 solo stops, three pass break-ups and three forced fumbles.

Eddie Johnson had 59 tackles and a team-leading 7.5 tackles-for-loss in 10 games with eight starts. He also finished second in ACC Defensive Player of the Year voting. The redshirt freshman LB from Selma, Ala., was a two-time ACC Player of the Week recipient.
