How did you become a Hurricanes fan?
"Growing up in Miami, I was surrounded by the greatness that was the University of Miami. It was hard not to be a fan. It was great having the team back home when the BankUnited Center, or the UM Convocation Center as it was called when it first opened, was built on campus. It offered a great place to get together to watch the Canes play."
Do you find it difficult supporting Miami while living in North Carolina?
"Not at all. North Carolina is in the heart of ACC country and there are always "home" games nearby for North Carolina residents to attend. Having Duke, UNC and NC State within a 20 min drive gives me three options to see the Canes in action. The other ACC rivals aren't too far away either."
Is there a place you visit to watch Hurricanes games in the city?
"If I can't make it to the game in person, I'll usually head over to a fellow Cane's house or have them over. The Alumni Association also organizes watch parties in the area."
Have you found any other Hurricanes fans in North Carolina?
"There are plenty of Miami transplants throughout this great city. Whether it's for work, grad school or a new setting, you can see plenty of orange and green during basketball and football season here."
How do you support the Hurricanes - Any apartment decorations? Do you have a favorite piece of Canes gear? Travel for games?
"Aside from the orange and green bathroom paint and UM windows decal on my car, my office sports a UM banner plastered on the wall directly across from my officemates Virginia Tech banner. I can't forget to mention my UM bowtie from the Alumni office that I wear every chance I get."
Any favorite memories or stories from your time as a Hurricanes basketball fan?
"I have many great memories from my time in Miami but one of the greatest basketball memories was watching the Canes defeat NC State at the PNC Arena in the last minute. It was a great game and we walked away still undefeated in the ACC."
