MTennis Travels to Tampa for USF Matchup
Despite surrendering the doubles point against Louisiana-Lafayette, the Canes rallied to win four singles matches to secure the victory.
Highlighting singles play was senior Victor Mauz, as he scored the first point for the Canes behind his dominating 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Wilfredo Gonzalez came out on top with a straight sets victory at No. 3 singles, winning 6-3, 7-5.
Finishing third was Gabriel Flores at No. 2 singles, winning 7-5, 6-3, setting the Canes up for a match-deciding No. 6 singles competition.
At the sixth position, Miami freshman William Albanese dropped the first set 2-6, but responded with two strong performances in the second and third frames, winning 6-4, 6-3, respectively.
The USF Bulls are coming off a, 4-3, home victory against North Florida on Friday. The Bulls are currently 3-2 in their spring campaign.
In last season's matchup, the Canes cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Bulls in Coral Gables, Fla., on Feb. 18, 2012.
