MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The University of Miami women's golf team is in fourth place - 10 strokes behind second-round leader NC State - through 36 holes Monday at the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge.

At 14-over 590, NC State owns a one-stroke lead over second-place FIU at 15-over 591; Kansas is in third at 21-over 597, followed by the Hurricanes at 24-over 600. The host Maryland Terrapins round out the top five at 25-over 601.

Three Wolfpack golfers are 1-2-3 atop the individual leaderboard after day one. NC State's Brittany Marchard shot a 4-under 140 for a one-stroke lead over teammate and individual Lindsay McGetrick at 3-under 141. NC State's Augusta Jones is one of three golfers tied for third at even-par 144.

Miami has two golfers tied for 11th overall at 5-over 149 - junior Carina Cuculiza and freshman Laura Hendee. After a first-round 76, Cuculiza bounced back with a team-low 73 in the afternoon session. Hendee carded one of Miami's two sub-par rounds Monday, firing a career-best 71 during the first round.

"They all looked tired today, especially after our first round," third-year head coach Patti Rizzo. "It was a really long day. The winds were strong throughout and I had Leticia [Ras-Anderica] double club it for most of the day."

Freshman Christina Ocampo carded the Canes' other sub-par round, tying her career low with a first-round 71. She finished the day tied for 18th at 6-over 150. Ocampo and Hendee combined for seven birdies in the first round.

Sophomore Leticia Ras-Anderica, the Canes' leader in stroke average through the season's first seven events, is tied for 23rd at 8-over 152. Freshman Lauren Riehle, playing as an individual, is in 49th at 12-over 156, while sophomore Audrey Monssoh, also an individual, is tied for 50th at 13-over 157. Sophomore Rika Park is tied for 63rd at 16-over 160.

"Tomorrow I want to see the girls hit below 290," Rizzo said. "They've done it before and they can do it again. We're still in the race and a lot can happen Tuesday."

The final round of the 2013 Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge will tee off at 8 a.m. ET Tuesday from the Senator Course at Don Shula’s Hotel and Golf Club. Live scoring will be available on www.golfstatresults.com.
