The weather was a picture-perfect backdrop for Sunday's two-hour practice as the Canes enjoyed sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s.
Sunday’s practice focused on the quarterbacks in three-step drops, two-minute drill and third-down situations.
"I think (today's energy) is a tribute to our strength staff because they were able to recover (from Saturday) quickly and get a lot done today," Golden said. "It was a lot of football today. The kids did a great job responding."
After practice, Golden was asked about the team now from where it was a year ago during spring practices. "Each team is different," Golden said. "We can look a lot of things differently with a lot of guys on defense returning. We're not out of the woods yet. We expect a lot of the young guys on defense to make marked improvements this spring."
Several players are in new positions or are wearing new numbers entering spring practice. Among the notable position charges: Nantambu-Akil Fentress moved from LB to DB, Tyriq McCord from DL to LB, David Perry from TE to DL and Jake O'Donnell from DL to TE.
QB Gray Crow (13), DB Antonio Crawford (21), WR Joey McNeill (26), DB Rayshawn Jenkins (26), Fentress (28), RB Brandon Yosha (28) and TE Jake O'Donnell (83) are among the players sporting new numbers in spring.Miami’s spring practice schedule continues Tuesday with a 9 a.m. session at GreenTree Practice Fields, followed a fourth session Thursday. After that, the Canes are off for Spring Break and return Tuesday, March 19.
