CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In an effort to build a better atmosphere on the visiting sideline of Sun Life Stadium, the University of Miami reorganized the seating plans and has lowered the season ticket price in several areas on the north and west sides of the stadium.

The student section, which was previous located in the west end zone (sections 153 to 103), has shifted to the north sideline where students will occupy the sections from the corner of the west end zone to the 40-yard line behind the visiting team bench.

“We saw strong growth in student attendance this year, including a single-game record just shy of 10,000 for Florida State,” Director of Athletics Blake James said.  “We wanted to reward our students for their support by putting them into some of the best seats in the house, while also building upon the energy and home-field advantage they provide our team.”

Quotes from current Miami students on the student section moving to the North Sideline:

"I think it is exciting that students will now have the ability to choose the viewpoint that they want for games, the new area that has been opened up to students will give an entirely new experience for games and I think students will be even more excited for football season to start" – Bhumi Patel, University of Miami Student Government President

“What gets students to games…is the atmosphere – this move creates a better atmosphere…I definitely think this is going to help increase student attendance.” – Javier Hernandez

“All of the big schools, like the SEC schools have their student section configured like this.” – Joshua Greensweig

"The new student seating will allow the student section to create a loud and intimidating atmosphere for every opponent that steps into our house! Now the opponents will have to brave a rocking student crowd from the 50 yard line all the way down to the end zone. Not only that, if we stay loud the entire game while being right behind their bench, it will definitely affect the opponent mentally. These seats are valuable and present a unique opportunity for students that they may never be able to experience again. We will help bring the "Swagger" back to Sun Life Stadium and cheer our team to victory! GO CANES!" – Andrew Wyatt, Category 5 chair
