CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Miami Hurricanes evened their road series with Boston College Saturday afternoon, capturing game two of their weekend set by the final score of 5-0.

After failing to plate a run in Friday's series opener, the Hurricanes (29-17, 11-12 ACC) wasted little time in opening the scoring on another chilly day for baseball at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond. Miami plated three runs in the early going, and, backed by another dominant start from junior lefthander Bryan Radziewski, won their eighth contest in the last 11 tries.

Radziewski, who entered the game with the-second lowest ERA of any pitcher in the conference, continued his dominant campaign with a complete-game shutout of the Eagles (7-34, 1-21 ACC). The Miami, Fla., native scattered four hits over the outing, allowing just three Eagles hitters to reach as far as second base. He struck out eight batters and walked two, lowering his ERA to 0.95 in the victory.

After a dormant performance in game one, Miami's offense sprung to life Saturday against Eagles' righthander Eric Stevens. Eight of the team's nine starters recorded at least one basehit, with three Hurricanes recording multi-hit games. As a team, Miami registered 12 hits in a sparkling performance.

The Hurricanes stranded two runners in game's first inning, but tagged Stevens (0-10) for three runs in the second. After senior Alex San Juan and freshman Christopher Barr opened the action with back-to-back singles, freshman Brandon Lopez laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position.

Junior Dale Carey converted on the early opportunity, lacing a Stevens offering down the leftfield line to easily plate both runners for a 2-0 advantage. Though Carey was caught at third trying to advance on a pitch in the dirt, the Hurricanes were able to string together another sequence in the same inning for their third run of the frame.

Junior Tyler Palmer belted a single into the right-center gap, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. With two outs, junior Alex Hernandez drew a four-pitch walk to give Miami runners on the corners. A designed double steal play would increase the Hurricanes' lead, as Palmer took off from third with the catcher's throw already on its way to second in an attempt to catch Hernandez. A nice slide from Palmer around the tag of Eagles' catcher Matt Pare made it 3-0 in favor of the visitors.

The Hurricanes tacked on two more runs in the middle innings to increase their lead to 5-0. An RBI double from Hernandez over the outstretched glove of outfielder Chris Shaw plated Lopez in the fourth, while Carey successfully squeezed in a run with runners on the corners in the sixth. Carey matched a career-high with three RBI's on the day.

That was all Radziewski would need, as he cruised through the Eagles' order during the middle innings. The southpaw retired 11 straight Boston College batters between the fifth and eighth, recording his fifth straight quality start with one of his most dominant outings of his decorated season.

The complete game shutout was the second of the season for Radziewski and second in the past four games for a Miami pitcher. Lefthander Andrew Suarez earned ACC Pitcher of the Week recognition for his own version last Sunday against Clemson.

The Hurricanes will return to Pellagrini Diamond Sunday for the rubber match of the weekend series. First pitch for the matinee is set for noon.
