STANFORD, Calif. – The 54th-ranked Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team fell to 21st overall Friday after the second round of the NCAA West Regional at Stanford Golf Course. After a second-round 312, the Canes sit at 51-over 619, four strokes behind Florida State.

No. 12 Purdue and No. 7 Vanderbilt are tied for the second-round lead at 9-over 577; the Boilermakers posted a team-best 286 on the day. No. 1 USC is two strokes behind the leader in third place. No. 36 South Carolina (13-over 581) and No. 14 Stanford (13-over 581) round out the top five.

Six golfers are under-par through 36 holes, including USC’s Annie Park, who is the individual leader at 4-under 138.

“Today was not a great day for the Hurricanes,” third-year head coach Patti Rizzo said. “Maybe tomorrow will be our day. It’ll be our final round for the spring season, so let’s make it a great one.”

Sophomore All-ACC performer Leticia Ras-Anderica is tied for 59th overall at 10-over 152. Ras-Anderica carded a second-round 77, which included an eagle on the par-5 No. 12. Fellow sophomore Rika Park trails Ras-Anderica by one stroke, shooting 11-over 153 through 36 holes. Park is tied for 68th overall.

Junior Carina Cuculiza is tied for 89th at 15-over 157, while freshman Christina Ocampo is tied for 109th at 18-over 160. Freshman Lauren Riehle is tied for 116th at 22-over 164.

The final round of the 2013 NCAA West Regional concludes Saturday at Stanford. The top eight teams and the top two individuals not on an advancing team will qualify for the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in Athens, Ga. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
