CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami head volleyball coach Jose “Keno” Gandara is excited to announce the dates for the 2013 Jose Gandara Volleyball Camp.
Gandara will host three separate camps in July: a Girls Day Camp from July 15-18, a Girls Advanced Camp from July 19-21 and a Team Camp from July 26-28. All camps will be held at the Knight Complex on the University of Miami campus. You can register for the Jose Gandara Volleyball Camp sessions by visiting http://www.josegandaravolleyballcamp.com/
Under Gandara’s guidance, campers will learn the skills and techniques of volleyball. Whether it is serving, passing, attacking, blocking or defense, campers will learn both individual and team techniques in an exciting environment.
Gandara is in his first year at the University of Miami, but boasts an impressive résumé. He spent the past eight years as an assistant at the University of Washington, where he helped the Huskies win the 2005 national championship. He previously served as an assistant at UNLV and his alma mater, UC Santa Barbara.
Dates of 2013 Volleyball Camps
Girls Day Camp - July 15-18
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This day camp is intended for volleyball players 12 to 16 years old to learn the basic skills and techniques of volleyball. Players will learn individual and team techniques in an exciting environment.
Girls Advanced Camp - July 19-21
Time: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The goal of the advanced camp is to teach players 14 to 18 years old to learn what it takes to play collegiate volleyball. Campers will learn the intricacies of serving, passing, attacking, setting, defense, and blocking. Additionally, campers will be taught the style of play used at the University of Miami and will have the opportunity to practice systems in a team environment. Overnight campers will stay in the dorms at the University of Miami and will eat their meals on campus. Local campers have the option to commute.
Team Camp - July 26-28
Time: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The team camp is designed to help teams prepare for their volleyball seasons. In this camp, players will learn individual skills with an emphasis on team instruction and improvement. Teams will participate in competitive drills, and will conclude the camp with an exciting team tournament. Overnight teams will stay in the dorms at the University of Miami and will eat their meals on campus. Local teams have the option to commute. The cost of the camp includes payment for one coach to stay in the dorms and eat meals with the team.
