CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Four University of Miami women’s tennis players participated in two ITA Summer Circuit events over the weekend.

Stefanie Wagner, Kelsey Laurente and Brittany Dubins each competed in the Summer Circuit event at the University of Florida, while Deborah Suarez traveled to College Station, Tex. to compete at Texas A&M University.

“I'm happy to see these players out competing in the summer,” head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said.  “Steffi and Kelsey have been playing some great tennis and it showed this weekend.  I believe that their hard work in the summer months will pay off when the fall rolls around.  One of our team goals has been to have a stronger fall, so this is definitely a step on the right direction.”

Wagner and Laurente, seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the tournament respectively, cruised through the first four rounds to meet each other in the tournament’s singles final. Wagner defeated Laurente 6-1, 7-5 to win the singles portion of the tournament.

After facing off against each other in the singles final, Wagner and Laurente teamed up for doubles and were eventually crowned the winners after beating fellow Cane Dubins and her partner Lilly Kimbell 8-5 in the finals.

In College Station, Suarez had tremendous success as well, reaching the singles semifinal before falling to Julia Fellerhoff 7-5, 6-0.
