TALLAHASSE, Fla. – University of Miami junior Henrique Tsukamoto won his consolation match Saturday morning at the Bedford Cup – State of Florida Championships at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

Tsukamoto, who has played two singles matches and a doubles match since Thursday, won his match on Saturday. The junior, who had Friday to reenergize his body, came out strong in a 6-3, 7-5, victory over Gabe Echeverry of FGCU. The singles victory is Tsukamoto’s second of the season.

Freshman Bernard Tefel, who won his first collegiate match on Thursday, lost in straight sets Saturday, 6-0, 6-4. The rookie again showed resiliency in a hard-fought second set.

Sophomore Jack Murphy, who retired from his set early on Saturday with an arm injury, did not participate on Saturday due to the injury.

Coach Mario Rincon’s squad will now head back to Coral Gables with time to prepare for their next outing Oct. 11 in Atlanta, Ga., at the ITA Regional Championships.
