CORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami basketball player Garrius Adams has been inducted into the Middle Creek High School Athletics Hall of Fame. The North Carolina basketball product will be honored before the school’s football game on October 18.

For Adams, the honor means a great deal. “Playing basketball at Middle Creek was a great experience and a major highlight in my life,” he said. “It was great at the time because we worked hard every day to be the best and I was doing it with teammates that were like brothers.”

As a high school senior, Adams averaged 21.8 points per game en route to setting a new Middle Creek High School scoring record in career points.

The Apex native will enter his fifth season at Miami after redshirting in 2012-13 because of injury. He will be enshrined in the second year of the Hall of Fame’s existence. Adams continued to say, “Now that I look back on what we accomplished, I'm very proud.”

The 6’6 guard also highlighted the importance the award has for those who have supported him.

“My hall of fame induction not only represents me, it represents my friends, teammates and family.”

After winning an ACC Championship and reaching the Sweet 16 last year, Adams seemed humbled to receive another award. “It feels good to not only have an impact on a school but on a community. Being inducted into the Middle Creek Hall of Fame is a huge accomplishment.”
