CLEMSON, S.C. – The Canes started their second ACC road trip strong, beating Clemson in four sets.

Miami (10-3, 3-0 ACC) dropped the first set 20-25 before taking the next three 25-19, 26-24 and 25-20 to remain unbeaten in conference play.

The Hurricanes had three players finish with double-doubles as junior Blair Fuentez (42 assists, 13 digs), sophomore Misty Ma’a (11 kills, 14 digs) and junior Savanah Leaf (15 kills, 14 digs) helped carry Miami to its third conference win of the season.

Junior middle Emani Sims also contributed in a big way, finishing with 10 kills and a team-high nine blocks. Senior Alex Johnson (nine kills, 17 digs) and junior Alexis Mourning (nine kills, two blocks) also chipped in with key plays throughout the match.

Defensively, the Canes tallied 26 total blocks and limited Clemson to a .174 hitting percentage. Senior defensive specialist Ryan Shaffer was one of five Canes to tally double-digit digs, finishing with 13. Shaffer also had two of Miami’s seven service aces against the Tigers.

The Canes wrap up their road trip at 7 p.m. Saturday against conference foe Georgia Tech. Miami will return to Coral Gables to host Pitt in their ACC home opener. Their match against the Panthers is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Knight Sports Complex.
