FT. MYERS, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team had a great day two at their fourth tournament of the season in the FGCU Eagle Fall Invitational.

Henrique Tsukamoto, William Albanese, and duo Jack Murphy and Albanese all brought home wins in the semifinal round. They will move on the finals of singles and doubles tomorrow. Tsukamoto and Bernard Tefel will also play in doubles back draw. Senior Gabriel Flores will also have a singles match on Sunday, at 10:15 a.m.

Doubles pair Tsukamoto and Tefel fell in their first match of doubles back draw against Will Neuner and Richard Meade. The Canes put up a good fight, but came up short to the FAU duo, 9-7.

The Canes turned the morning around, tallying three more wins in doubles. Duo Tsukamoto and Tefel came out victorious in their second doubles back draw match against Boston’s Kyle Childree and Matt Wagner, 8-6.

Murphy and Albanese played two strong matches, winning both. In the first round, the pair matched up against FGCU’s Lance Lvovsky and Chris Perrigan, defeating them 8-3. Murphy and Albanese dominated doubles semifinals, almost shutting out FAU’s John Nowak and Stefan Burnett, with a final score of 8-1.

In the singles back draw, Gabriel Flores put up a good fight against FAU’s Rich Meade, but ultimately lost, 6-4, 6-1. Tefel met the same fate in singles semifinals falling against Kevin Seilmann of Barry, 6-3, 6-1. Murphy participated in a singles floating match versus FAU’s Trey Nickerson, but his effort was not enough, falling 6-2, 6-4.

Tsukamoto lost his first set but turned his game around to beat his opponent, Chris Barrus of UCF, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Albanese continued his winning streak taking down Pete Thomason of Arkansas, 6-3, 6-1. Tsukamoto will face Albanese at 10:15 Sunday morning in the final of the green bracket.

Finals for singles and doubles will continue tomorrow for the Canes at 9 a.m.
