No. 30 Golf Heads North for Gator Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 30th-ranked Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team is one of five top-30 teams competing this weekend at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational. Miami enters the weekend having finished second or third in five straight events, including four straight third-place finishes.

The 54-hole tournament will be hosted over three days at the par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course. Friday’s first round and Saturday’s second round will begin at 9 a.m. with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10. Sunday’s final round will tee off with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Miami will face a talented field that includes No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 11 Arizona, No. 16 Florida, No. 28 Virginia, No. 31 Ohio State, No. 34 Texas A&M, No. 37 Kent State and No. 42 Florida State.

For the seventh consecutive tournament, the Hurricanes’ lineup will feature Daniela Darquea, Delfina Acosta, Kailey Walsh, Leticia Ras-Anderica and Rika Park. Darquea enters the weekend as the Canes’ leader with a 72.82 scoring average and is fresh off her career-first win earlier this month at the Hurricane Invitational.

Acosta (73.71) and Ras-Anderica (73.76) rank second and third, respectively, in scoring average. The trio of Darquea, Acosta and Ras-Anderica have a combined 13 top-25 finishes and all seven of Miami’s top-10 individual finishes.

At last year’s Gator Invitational, the Hurricanes finished sixth overall, while Park was Miami’s highest individual performer, tying for sixth overall at 5-over 215.

After this weekend’s trip to Gainesville, the Hurricanes will have one final test before the ACC Championship (April 18-20) when they travel to Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., for the SDSU Farms Invitational (March 24-26).
