TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Despite double-doubles from both Morgan Stroman and Shawnice Wilson, the University of Miami women's basketball team fell to No. 18 Florida State, 86-65, at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The Hurricanes (12-4, 3-2 ACC, owners of one the Atlantic Coast Conference's best defenses, was unable to slow down the Seminoles on Sunday. FSU shot an impressive 51 percent from the floor, the best against the Canes this season.
Stroman led the Canes with 18 points, while Wilson added 15 and senior guard Stefanie Yderstrom scored 11. The double-doubles was each players' fourth of the season.
Stroman (11) and Wilson (12) grabbed 23 of Miami's 37 rebounds.
Four different players from Florida State reached double figures, led by 21 from Leonor Rodriguez's 21. Chelsea Davis recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Miami hadn't lost two consecutive games since Feb.21 and Feb. 25 of 1010 against then No. 19 Georgia Tech and No. 9 Florida State, respectively.
The Hurricanes return to the BankUnited Center on Thursday, Jan. 17 when they face Georgia Tech. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
