CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Matt Pottorff has been named Assistant Director of Compliance, the University of Miami Athletics Department announced Monday.
Pottorff spent the previous two years as a graduate assistant within the Compliance Office at the University of Kansas. While at KU, he helped improve procedures to maintain compliance standards, assisted in statutory and NCAA staff interpretations, and aided in the monitoring of the Jayhawks’ 18 sports programs and 500+ student-athletes.
“Matt is an excellent addition to our Compliance staff here at the University of Miami,” Associate AD for Compliance Craig Anderson said. “As a former student-athlete and now having completed law school, he has a tremendous desire to learn every day and we’re happy to have him on our team.”
He spent the summer of 2012 as a law clerk for Bond Schoeneck & King, LLP in Overland Park, Kan., where he assisted the firm in potential NCAA infraction research.
Prior to his most recent stint at KU, he was a marketing and promotions intern for the Jayhawks from December 2005-May 2006.
A cross country student-athlete at Creighton University, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2008. He was named to Creighton University Dean’s List from 2004-08.
He was conferred his juris doctor in May 2013 from the University of Kansas, where he was first Vice President and then President of the Sports and Law Media Society.
