Our Mission

The Mission of the Hurricane Club is to strengthen the University of Miami's commitment to student-athlete excellence both academically and athletically. Through the Hurricane Club, local and national volunteers, alumni, and former student-athletes collectively seek to increase scholarship support, improve facilities, and provide the operation and maintenance funding vital for all 17 varsity sports.

Our Goals

1. Raise $10.3 million in Scholarship Support.
2. Increase membership base to 6,000.
3. 3. Recruit 500 new Hurricane Club members for the first year of our "It Starts with YOU" Campaign.

To maintain our competitive edge, we must provide our student-athletes every opportunity to train at the highest level. Participation in intercollegiate athletics builds character, teaches teamwork and commitment, and prepares student-athletes for success in their personal and professional lives. Our vision is to continue to be the premier athletics program in the nation. The first step is expanding and renovating the many resources and facilities we offer to our student-athletes. It begins with a new multipurpose facility and renovation of our athletic training center, which will further our mission in providing the best possible experience for our dedicated student-athletes.

It's All About the U is a progressive athletics enrichment campaign that seeks to raise $13,600,000 for a new Center for Athletic Excellence housing a brand-new football locker room, players' lounge, and student-athlete academic center for all of our athletes. The Center for Athletic Excellence will be an iconic building that pays homage to the legacy of Hurricane Football. It will feature a gallery of champions showcasing national championship trophies and rings, Ring of Honor memorabilia, and the proud tradition of Hurricane Football. The center, together with a newly expanded sports medicine training area in the Hecht Athletic Center, will enable our student-athletes to achieve their personal, academic, and athletic aspirations.

Project Overview

Located on the North side of the Hecht Athletic Center the new Center for Athletic Excellence will be an iconic two level, 30,000 SqFt, multipurpose athletics facility that will serve as the focal point of our 5-time National Championship Football program while serving to enhance the complete experience of all of our 400 plus student-athletes.

This facility will include three main components that are aligned with our mission to be the premiere program in Intercollegiate Athletics.

1. Enhanced Football Facilities
2. Student-Athlete Academics
3. Student-Athlete Wellness

Enhanced Football Facilities - Ground Level

  Football Locker Room

  Gallery of Champions

A strong football program is a highly visible hallmark of a great university. A winning record attracts the very best recruits and endears supporters to the school. Inspiration for excellence on the gridiron often begins in the locker room. It's a place of excitement, energy, and anticipation, and at the University of Miami it's a place where countless coaching legends and NFL greats have left their mark in collegiate football history. The new Center for Athletic Excellence will feature one of the finest locker rooms in college athletics along with a 3,500-square-foot players' lounge. The locker room will provide increased dressing and changing space, as well as a sitting and storage area. The lounge will offer a comfortable space for players to relax and gather before and after practice while strengthening "The U" family bond. In addition, the latest in audio-visual technology will allow coaches and student-athletes to be more efficient in day-to-day training preparations.

Also located on the first floor of the Center for Athletic Excellence will be the Gallery of Champions, a sports museum dedicated to Hurricane Football. It will house all of the University of Miami's national championship trophies, ring of honor and championship rings, as well as showcase the many accomplishments of our program and its players.
