There are two ways to become a member of the Hurricane Club. Priority Seating: If you are a season ticket holder for football or basketball in a priority seating section, there is a per-seat donation on each seat. The amount of your total per-seat donation equals your Hurricane Club Giving Level. If you have priority seating for both football and basketball, the total amount of your per-seat donations combined equals your Hurricane Club donation. Outright Annual Gift: You can make an outright gift to the Hurricane Club at anytime throughout the year. There are many different levels of giving to choose from. There are several options for making a donation to the Hurricane Club. These include a check or money order made payable to University of Miami Athletics, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), stocks and securities, and matching gifts.

With your annual gift to the Hurricane Club you are not only assisting us in our efforts in providing the very best experience for our student-athletes; you will also receive many different benefits associated with your Hurricane Club Membership.

It Starts With U

Building a competitive athletics program starts with YOU. As ambassadors for Hurricane Athletics, you help spread the word of how well our student-athletes perform in the classroom and in competition. But in order to continuously grow our membership base and provide the resources needed to sustain a powerhouse athletics program, we need your help in attracting new Hurricane Club members. If 20 percent of our active 5,500 members referred just one new member every year, we would double our membership base within a five-year period. As such, we have launched a new incentives-laden It Starts with YOU campaign that works like this:

After you have joined or renewed your membership on the enclosed renewal statement or pledge card, please give us the name and contact information of one potential Hurricane Club member who can be signed up at any level. Once they sign up, both you and the new member will receive a limited-edition Hurricane Club—Building Champions hat, available only to new members and current members who refer us a member.

Become a Canes Rep
This group of volunteers will be the rallying force in our It Starts with YOU campaign. By signing up at least ten new members each year, Canes Reps will earn special game-day hospitality recognition, as well as access to exclusive events. If you are interested in becoming a Canes Rep, please call the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6699 and sign up today. Upon registration as a Canes Rep, you will receive a package with membership materials and pledge cards to help us build champions.

The priority point system allows for an organized ranking of donors within each giving level for various allocations, including seating locations for home and away football games, season ticket upgrades, parking permit allocation, and all post season tickets. This system allows the Hurricane Club to more effectively reward our active annual fund donors for their loyalty and efforts to make our athletic program the best in the nation.

How Are Priority Points Determined?
1 Point	For every $100 of current calendar year donations to the Hurricane Club (Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund) This applies ONLY to donations made within the calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Athletic endowment gifts count toward the annual fund ONLY for the amount given during the current giving year. A pledge is NOT counted until payment has been received.
1 Point	For every $250 of lifetime giving to the Hurricane Club and/or Athletic Department, including athletic facility projects and scholarship endowments Lifetime giving includes cumulative donations to the Athletic Department under one account. Dues/donations to sport-specific fundraising clubs (such as Above the Rim and Diamond Studs/Diamond Darlings) and special events are NOT included.
2 Points	For every consecutive year of season tickets (of the same sport regardless of quantity) purchased in the sports of Baseball, Football, Men's Basketball, and Women's Basketball This applies ONLY to donors who have purchased tickets for the sports' most current season
5 Points	For each consecutive year of membership in the Hurricane Club Applies only to donors who have made a donation during the current giving year
5 Points	Signing up a new member/referral The new donor MUST submit referrals in writing at the time of the donation
20 Points	University of Miami alumni status; maximum of two alumni per account [donor/spouse] This is a one-time allocation of points to any alumnus who has earned a degree or multiple degrees from the University of Miami and who has given to the Hurricane Club within the current giving year. In the event that a donor's spouse is also an alumnus, the spouse's name must be on the account, and a total of 40 points will be awarded to the account. Alumni status MUST be indicated at the time of the donation.
20 Points	University of Miami Athletics Letter Winner This one-time allocation of points is given to any former University of Miami Athletics letter winner. This applies to the spouse as well ONLY if the spouse is on the Hurricane Club account and the letter-winner status has been indicated at the time of the donation.
